Out and About in Cambridge

CAMBRIDGE FOR A DAY. It’s been a good week. On Monday I graduated from university with a MA Music Industry Management with distinction. I was so happy that my parents were in town to celebrate this achievement with me. I’m going to tell you all about the graduation ceremony, my outfit and how we spent the day in a different post. So bear with me!

Yesterday Panu and I travelled to beautiful Cambridge, where he was invited as a guest speaker (proud me). Sadly, leaving London for a day is a rare occasion. Apart from the odd trip to Oxford to visit friends, leaving London seems like a bit of a hassle and like a huge undertaking. But I guess that’s typical for people living in the bubble that is London – it’s just too convenient, too comfy and let’s be honest: why would you need to? I wish we would have more time and enthusiasm to travel around Britain, because once you really do manage to get out, it’s usually fantastic.

Cropped

ANYTHING CROPPED. This is the outfit I wore to the London Fashion Weekend event. We finally got around to shoot it out in the backyard on a sunny afternoon. Lately I’m somewhat obsessed with crop tops. Perhaps it’s all the rays of sunlight and the Spring kicking in (most trees start blossoming already, yay!). I just think that cropped tops give an outfit a really nice silhouette, depending on the skirt or pants combined with, of course. And with a pair of heels it’s hard to get it wrong.

Second Day in Athens

SUNSET FUN. I have yet to tell you so much about our Athens weekend getaway. On Saturday my boyfriend and I celebrated our one year anniversary. We wanted the entire day to be very relaxing without any stressful planning and the focus being on spending quality time together. After sleeping late we headed out to the city for lunch and strolled through the streets of Athens up the hill to visit the ancient Acropolis. Unfortunately, it had closed much earlier than we thought and so we enjoyed the sunset on the nearby rocks instead. And oh how beautiful it was! The sun stained the entire city with a stunning golden light – it was breathtakingly beautiful. Afterwards, while getting changed for dinner at the hotel room we took a moment to celebrate the occasion with some champagne and chocolate. Perfect aperitif for an even more perfect night if you ask me. I’m gonna tell you more about the restaurant in a separate post, though.

Ruby Shades

SPORTY SPICE. Usually sporty outfits make me feel a bit uncomfortable and well, under-dressed when worn outside the gym or climbing hall. In addition, my fear of sweatpants reached its peak while in Finland, where people would wear them just about anywhere and find it absolutely appropriate. Yes, I do understand that sweatpants are comfortable and all, but do you really have to wear them while grocery shopping or running errands in town? Can’t people put on a pair of jeans instead? What is it with sweatpants that are also usually completely torn up and holey? You can only imagine what a bunch of contradicting thoughts came to my mind when I saw these red pants in the store. Yet, I had to get them. In their defence, and ultimately in mine, they are made of a wonderful silky fabric and anyway, who can say no to a pair of comfortable bright red pants with blue stripes on the side? I couldn’t. Have I crossed over to the dark side?

A Walk In Holland Park

SEQUINS AND FLUFF. Lately I’ve been having fun experimenting with textures and materials. This look, which I’ve worn on Sunday for an afternoon stroll in Holland Park, is defined by a mixture of sequins, leather, and fluffy fabric. Speaking of having fun… the same goes for my make up routine, which I try to extend by using bright lipsticks to add the extra oomph to a look. This almost baby pink lipstick YSL Rouge Volupté 7 gives a wonderful contrast to the otherwise all black outfit – without looking too much like Barbie.
