BACK IN LONDON. Sorry for my absence. It feels strange to neglect the blog for that long, but unfortunately I had no other choice. In China I couldn’t access WordPress or any social media for that matter. But now I’m back in London and ready to step up my game. China was wonderful and I can’t wait to show you some pictures and tell you all about my trip. But first I want to show you a look we shot before I left for Asia.
GLAM IT UP. So here is the third installment of “The Ramones T-Shirt Series”. I blatantly took inspiration from the 80s glam rock movement. Even though one might argue that The Ramones’ music and attitude don’t really go together with anything that’s glam and glitter, I do think that from a fashion point of view punk rock and glam rock can build a very interesting synergy. 80s glam rock bands, particularly Hanoi Rocks, have always fascinated me. It really takes some guts to make such bold fashion choices and sport crazy hairstyles that are heavy on the teasing and hairspray. After all, not every man thinks that it’s a good idea to wear glittery suit jackets, animal print vests, and tighter-than-tight leather pants in every colour of the rainbow. Quite frankly, not every man should wear it, either. Some men, like for instance Michael Monroe or Andy McCoy, simply own this look and you see that it’s a reflection of their personal lifestyle as well as their on-stage persona. Thumbs up!
UNDER WESTWAY. And here is the second instalment of The Ramones T-shirt Series. This time my beloved girly tutu dress got out to play, which doesn’t happen as often as it probably would like to. Mixing styles is always a bit of an adventure, but when I thought about possible outfits with the band shirt this girlish dress came to mind immediately. Not only is it a stunning piece of clothing, but it also reminds me of my ballet days and makes me want to swirl around like a little girl (and consequently makes me look like a crazy person). Unfortunately, there is the danger of looking like a little girl as well.
BAND T-SHIRTS. Styling band t-shirts can be a challenge sometimes. The most obvious combination is probably with a pair of ripped jeans/shorts and boots. I love band t-shirts, because they combine two of my greatest passions: music and fashion. These shirts are a staple in my wardrobe. They always come in handy when I have to get ready in 5 minutes and feel like I have nothing to wear and have no other choice than grabbing something random from my closet.
The other day I was thinking that it would not hurt to get out of my comfort zone and came up with a little experiment that is going to be featured here on the blog. May I introduce to you: “The Ramones T-Shirt Series”. The series is going to consist of several parts – my guess being something like five different outfits – in which I am going to style different looks around my Ramones t-shirt. This time, to create a sporty yet feminine look, I paired it with a fitted skirt in mint green and a pair of black & white Chuck Taylor All Stars, which match the print of the shirt perfectly. I kept the accessories at a minimum and only wore an old pair of green sunglasses and a clear bracelet. Enjoy and rock on!
