Culture Calendar London – December

THAT TIME OF THE YEAR. It’s officially Christmas time everyone! And just because the weather is cooling down doesn’t mean your social life can’t heat up. Like every month, I have selected interesting gigs, exhibitions and events to give you some inspiration on what to do in London throughout December. This month is pretty exhibition heavy, because opera and ballet are super popular during pre-Christmas season and tickets are unfortunately already sold out for most shows. I know it’s a bummer, but not to worry, luckily the city has so much more to offer. Check out my picks below!

Culture Calendar London – November

OFF TO FINLAND YET AGAIN. Oh boy, another month that went by without a single post. And yet again, it is time to pack my bags and fly over to Finland for a couple of weeks. Though, this time it’s mainly for professional reasons. I started managing an artist who I’m quite excited about, so my schedule is all filled up with meetings with record label people, video directors, photographers, booking agents and promoters. Fun times ahead!

Culture Calendar London – October

LAST YEAR IN OCTOBER. Oh Athens, how wonderfully you treated us a year ago. Swapping grey London for this gorgeous city dipped in golden light sounds very tempting right now. But I don’t want to complain. Great things are ahead and I couldn’t be any more excited about October. As per usual, in the beginning of each month, here is a brand new culture calendar. Yet again, London offers so many fabulous productions, events and exhibitions, that it is hard to choose where and how to spend your precious free time.

Culture Calendar London – September

AUTUMN APPROACHING. A new month, a new culture calendar. Since chilling in parks with friends is starting to get chilly, here is some inspiration to keep you entertained and culturally in the loop while autumn approaches. Also during September, London has so many great things to offer, which you shouldn’t miss out on. Unfortunately, I will not be able to enjoy most of this month’s events as I am off to Finland for most of it.

Culture Calendar London – August

koko

AUGUST SHENANIGANS. July really went by in the blink of an eye. August is here, and with it the annoyingly present awareness to really get the ball rolling in the employment game. Job sites are to be browsed, CVs are to be customized, applications are to be send. Though, it looks like job hunt is a loosing game at the moment. But hey, it’s too early to throw in the towel. Spirits up and finger’s crossed.

Culture Calendar London – July

NEW BEGINNINGS. Wow, it’s been two months since my last post! Time really flies when you are busy and a lot of things – positive and negative – happen all at once. Finishing my master’s dissertation was the biggest challenge, especially because I’m the worst procrastinator you will ever see. But now it’s done, results are due this week and the graduation ceremony is scheduled for the end of July. I can’t wait to hold that degree in my hands!

London Fashion Weekend

FASHION WEEKEND.  On Friday a friend and I attended the London Fashion Weekend and even though we literally didn’t buy a thing, save for a few glasses of bubbly, the experience was a lot of fun. About 80 designers and brands took part in this season’s consumer fashion showcase; amongst them brands such as House of Harlow, Muubaa, Kat Maconie, etc. Levi’s also set up a pop-up store including a stage showcasing aspiring artists throughout the weekend. Our feet needed rest and so we sat down for the performance of singer-songwriter (anyone else tired of that title/description?) Indiana. To be honest, I don’t think the acoustic set did the singer justice. There was something odd about that single electric guitar accompanying her. But after checking a couple of her videos on YouTube I realised that her music, which she describes as ‘moody electronica with 80s inspired synths and haunting vocals’, makes sense and isn’t half-bad. It’s actually convincing. I’m definitely gonna keep an eye on her. All in all it was a very enjoyable evening full of fashion, music, and most importantly people watching (let’s be honest, that’s the best part about these fashion events anyway, isn’t it?).

International Fashion Showcase 2014

LONDON FASHION WEEK. Yesterday I helped out at a London Fashion Week event that was organised by the Estonian Embassy and held at one of the International Fashion Showcase venues. The showcase features emerging designers from across the world – all together 140 designers from 27 countries. And oh how gorgeous the garments were! It’s incredible what kind of talent is out there. Zippers, dinosaurs and shapes like intestines – yep, it was all there. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the camera with me and had to take all pictures with my iPhone , so please excuse the quality of the photos.
