CHRISTMAS RECAP. I still have a few photos to show from Christmas, which we spent in my hometown Dresden. I usually make sure to visit at least two Christmas markets; the rather traditional (and commercial) ‘Striezelmarkt’, which dates back to year 1434 and is therefore one of the oldest Christmas markets in Germany, and the medieval market. The Striezelmarkt usually has two Finnish stands offering glögi and other Finnish delicacies, to which I turn in case of a very bad ‘I miss Finland’ situation. But actually, I prefer the medieval market because of its cosy atmosphere and the lack of pushy tourists.
ERVIN LATIMER. How gorgeous is this handmade bag by up-and-coming Finnish designer Ervin Latimer? His designs perfectly combine functionality with simplicity and beauty. For someone like me, who’s into the edgy and rock ‘n’ roll side of things, this is the perfect bag to wear with any daily outfit. I can’t tell you how tired I am of carrying my uni books and laptop around London in an odd looking hipstery canvas tote bag with the slogan “I’m a free bitch” written on Lady Gaga’s face. Nothing against this tote, but the print does start to faint.
HELSINKI RETREAT. This is just a quick update, because I’m in the midst of revision for my last exam tomorrow. Wish me luck! Can’t wait to get back to social life and spend much needed quality time with friends. Of course, plans for tomorrow are made already: going out with a couple of friends to celebrate me surviving uni madness (aka the end of this semester) with food, drinks, and dancing. So bare with me for now, I’m gonna publish a proper outfit post later this week.
FINAL SPURT. The time has come… it’s January. And January means that last assignments are due and exams are about to be written. It’s a strange feeling that the master course that has just begun is almost finished. Two more lectures, two more assignments and two more exams. The only thing left is the daunting task of writing my dissertation, which is due in May. Most certainly the following months are going to be super busy (and probably distressing at times), but luckily I can always remind myself that I’m studying in a field that I have been passionate about for years and years: music.
CLEAN SLATE. Happy New Year everybody! I hope you all had a peaceful Christmas time and have recovered from a fantastic night of New Year’s celebrations. After spending Christmas with family and friends in Germany, I flew to Helsinki a few days ago. My boyfriend and I had a pretty tight schedule for New Year’s Eve: a party with close friends to start off the night, dinner at the restaurant we had our first date at and which has never disappointed us, and a Venetian masquerade theme party followed by dancing into 2014 at a local night club. It was such a fun night and I am thankful that I was able to spend it with such amazing people. I’m sure you all have made a few resolutions for 2014 and so have I. I don’t want to go into that much detail, but I do want to wish you all determination and motivation for the promises you have made and the goals you have set for yourself. Good luck!
